I pride myself on staying calm under pressure, managing high volumes of work, building lasting business relationships and keeping all the plates spinning at once.
Launching my business: a win-win approach to legal services
When I launched Annex Legal in 2016, my goal was to provide a more flexible style of in-house legal services that better matches the needs of many companies.
Having worked as a senior commercial lawyer and company secretary for insurers and financial service providers, I’d always enjoyed the in-house legal environment, helping companies manage challenges and opportunities and building great relationships along the way – many of which remain to this day.
By launching Annex Legal, I now deliver a solution that draws on my broad experience and provides flexibility to my corporate clients. It’s a solution I often wished I had access to when I was on the other side of the fence.
If you need legal expertise, but can’t commit to a permanent employee (or have found it difficult or costly to work exclusively with traditional law firms), I provide a high-quality legal service that’s there when you need it (and not when you don’t).
Foundations for building a business: my experience
When you work with me, you’ll get considered, pragmatic and plain-English legal advice aimed at helping your business make better decisions.
I’m an in-house generalist lawyer who first qualified in New Zealand before moving to Sydney and re-qualifying as a NSW solicitor.
Since then I’ve worked in Sydney and London, mostly in the insurance and financial services sectors. I’ve advised corporate clients on a broad range of commercial, corporate and regulatory matters, ranging from drafting and negotiating significant commercial contracts to writing policies and procedures, applying for regulatory licences, coordinating the provision of advice by external lawyers and managing legal projects.
I'm also used to handling the day-to-day legal enquiries that arise when working in-house.
I’ve developed excellent working relationships with executive management, Boards, back office/operational staff, and front office/client relationship managers.
I’ve dealt with Australian and overseas regulators, foreign parent companies, subsidiaries and other stakeholders, and also assisted clients during times of significant change (e.g. initial public offering, corporate restructure and sale of business).

My business focus: helping businesses make better decisions
My experience means I understand what it’s like to be part of a corporate entity: managing competing priorities, assessing risk, and navigating a highly-regulated business environment.
I focus on building understanding and connections so I can provide the tailored advice and the recommendations you really need. I take time to learn what matters to your company / legal team and work out how I can add real value.
I also build strong connections within the legal profession
I keep up to date with what’s happening in law and in business by building my own personal networks and through my current memberships that include:
Law Society of NSW
Governance Institute of Australia (Certificated Member)
Women Lawyers Association of NSW
